The tantalizing array of Korean dishes is a feast for the senses.  In this post, you can find a list of must-try Muslim-friendly Korean foods.

1. Saengseon gu-ee (Grilled Fish)


A simple fish dish grilled and seasoned with salt or gochujang to taste. Several kinds of fish can be used for this dish including mackerel, cutlass fish, and saury.  The dish always comes with rice.

2.  Dakgalbi (Spicy Grilled Chicken)


Popular Korean chicken dish Dakgalbi (Stir Fried Chicken Barbecue) is muslim friendly too. Dish contains stir fried marinated  (in gochujang/ chili paste) chicken, vegetables and tteok (rice cakes).  You can choose additions to the dish like noodles, cheese or more tteok. Usually, restaurants offer two types: spicy or a bit salty.
➡ Ordering tip:  Some restaurants near Nami island area make dakgalbi with “Halal certificated” chicken. If you can’t handle the regular Korean spiciness, ask for additional cheese to lessen it.
 

3. Haemul(Seafood) Sundubu Jjigae or Soft Tofu Stew

Freshly curdled dubu (tofu) made up the sizzling spicy jjigae (stew). Vegetables, mushrooms, onion, chili pepper paste and an optional meat like oysters, mussels, clams, and shrimp add flavor to this popular Korean stew.
The stew contains chili pepper and can be spicy for some people.

4. Bibimbap

Bibimbap is an enormously popular Korean dish featuring a large bowl of rice topped with an assortment of vegetables, beef or egg. The recipe is seasoned in chili pepper paste and served on a hot stone bowl. Bibimbap was voted 40th most delicious food conducted by CNN travel poll in 2011.

 ➡ Ordering tip: You can also ask the staff to take away the meet when you order. If you find the dish to be too spicy, ask the waiter to serve extra rice.

 

5. Ttoppoki(Spicy Rice Cake)

 Ttoppoki or spicy rice cake top the list of delicious street food in Korea. Ttoppoki is a sticky and chewy rice cakes with moderately spicy Korean chili sauce. Lip smacking snack has boiled eggs, green onions, or sesame leaves.
