1. 보돌미역 (Bodol Seaweed)

Seaweed soup(미역국) is the most of Korean love to eat on their birthday.
There are different types of Seaweed soup at Bodol Seaweed. The soup is typically accompanied with halibut, beef, clam.
You can eat different kind of seaweed soup.
Most of the Korean restaurant serve side dishes for free. If you want, you can refill the side dishes.
This is the heart of Korea 🙂
If you don’t like seaweed, don’t worry! They also have bulgogi, soy sauce marinated seafood .

2. 꽁시면관 (Gongxi noodles bar)
One of the best Korean office worker’s lunch is Jjajjang-myeon(black bean noodles,짜장면)! Do you know Chinese embassy is located in Myeongdong? So there are lots of Chinese restaurant near embassy.
Gongxi noodles bar is one of the Chinese restaurant in Myeongdong. There is a long line during a lunch break.
Signature menu is 꿔바로우(Guobaorou). Most Korean order 1 meal for each person, and 1 dishes for share.

3. 유가네 닭갈비 (Yoogane Dakgalbi)
There are four Yoogane Dakgalbi in the Myeongdong. You can find this restaurant easily.
Dakgalbi is a popular Korean dish made by stir-frying marinated diced chicken in a gochujang-based sauce with cabbage, sweet potatoes, rice cake, scallions, and other ingredients.
Normally, Korean choose Dakgalbi fried rice for lunch. It is more cheaper than Dakgalbi and suitable for lunch. You should bring some side dishes in the Self Bar.
You can add some topping beside the fried rice. We choose sticky noodles today. But they have lots of topping to add, sweet potatoes, rice cake, ramyeon, udon, cheese.
You can’t eat spicy food? Don’t worry! They also serves chicken bulgogi and seafood pancake. It is not Spicy at all!

4. 명동교자 (Myeongdong Gyoja)
Each person can get own portion of Kimchi. The kimchi have a lot of garlic and hot pepper.
Main menu is Kalguksu(hand-made noodle soup). They have 4 mini dumplings in the noodles. The soup is chicken based, harmonized with stir-fried pork and vegetables.
If you like dumpling, you should order Mandoo. Mandoo is steamed 10 big, juicy dumplings.
After the meal, you should have a chew of gum which the restaurant give you for free. Gum will keep your breath fresh from garlic smell.

5. 화포식당 (Hwapo Sikdang)
Hwapo sikdang is well known for pork BBQ restaurant. But they serves lunch special menu at lunch time!
During the lunch hour, this place is full of office worker near Myeongdong and Uljiro district. You have to line up if you arrive at noon.
They have 2 type of main menu. Stir-fried spicy pork and Sausage stew.
The bowl of rice covered with fried egg. You can mix the rice with the butter and soy sauce. This is Korean style egg and soy sauce rice. Butter is offered free.
They have side dish self bar at lunch. You can eat anything you want for free. Side dishes varies from day to day.
That is why Hwapo sikdang is so pupular at lunch time.
Today’s side dishes are tteokbokki, boneless chicken, salad, tofu, muk. All of those are 8,000 won per person.

6. 맘스터치 (Mom’s touch)

Mom’s touch is famous fast food brand like Mcdonald in South Korea. You can easily find the Mom’s Touch Myeongdong branch in the main street.
Mom’s Touch main products are fried chicken, chicken burgers, and hamburgers.
Their french fries are not normal one, it seasoned well and crispy!
Signature hamburger menu is Thigh burger, patty is made of Chicken thigh. The patty is so thick, you should open your mouth widely 🙂

You can eat everything you want unlimited! The dishes are changed every season.
Price is reasonable, too. So VIPS is one of the highly recommend buffet restaurants.

8. 봉추찜닭 (Bongchu Jjimdak)

There are 3 type of chicken dishes famous in Korea. Fried chicken, Dakgalbi(Stir-fried chicken), Jjimdak(Braised chicken). In myeongdong area, you can easily find many Jjimdak restaurants.
One of the popular jjimdak brand is Bongchu jjimdak.
Jjimdak is a chicken dish mixed with vegetables marinated soy sauce.
There special menu is 2 types cheese topping. If you are cheese lover, you should add cheese topping!

SideShow is tteokbokki restaurant in myeongdong. They serves various types of tteokbokki.
The tteokbokki is cooking at your table so can add topping like noodles, dumpling, egg, etc.
After you eat tteokbokki, we recommend you to order fried rice.
