Are you a fan of Real Men? 

Real Men (진짜 사나이 in Korean) is a variety show about male (and now female!) celebrities as they experience life in the Korean Military. In Korea, military service is compulsory for men for 2 years. So this shows gives you a look into what the men go through, but of course as a TV show, it can be a little bit exaggerated!

The show is so popular in Korea, that there are actually some military service concept restaurants! We thought we could introduce you to two very cool ones located in Seoul. 

 Famous Hongdae Restaurant: 닭날다 Flying Chicken

Located right in front of Hongik University (or Hongdae for short!) it is a two storey building that looks like something that existed decades ago! The interior might be a little bit suspicious, but they are famous for their delicious chicken dishes, and for having preserved an original recipe for 14 years!

The menu further illustrates a very traditional military concept!

The famous chicken dish? It is this sizzling, spicy chicken on a hot grill plate covered in ooey-gooey mozzarella cheese! Doesn’t it look delicious?

From the moment you begin walking into the entrance, you can tell that there is something very special about this restaurant! There is a very consistent, strong military theme, which is both a good thing and a bad thing for Korean men!

In fact the interior decor has taken what looks like the inside of the military barracks, and has transformed it into a restaurant! Does it scare you, to think you might be in the Korean military? Fear not! Because the food is so tasty you will wish you could eat here every day!

This restaurant serves amazing Korean barbecue! So order a variety of different meat dishes, and pretend you are in the Korean military!
