Korean New Year is typically a family holiday, family members who are working or studying in other cities will go back to their hometowns to visit and celebrate this holiday with their family.
They prepare large amounts of food, dress up hanbok (traditional Korean clothes) and set all of the dishes on the ritual table which are according to the ancestral rites for greeting the ancestor spirits.
The food Korean people must eat for new year is Ddeokguk, in Korea, eating Ddeokgukon New Year’s Day is believed to add a year to one’s age, and also represents a new beginning for the New Year.
Korean will also play fireworks or play some games for celebrating this meaningful holiday!
