63 Building

63 City is located in Yeouido overlooking the gently flowing Hangang River.

On the outside, it’s a simple skyscraper.

On the inside, however, it’s full of wonderful things for visitors to see.

Attractions include:

  • Sea World, which is known for fun family outings and the observatory located on the 60th floor, which is a great place for a romantic date.
  • The observatory added a gallery in 2008, a recent wax museum, and regular showings of <Fanta-Stick>, a string and percussion performance.
  • Splendid night views of Seoul and the Hangang River from the highest gallery observatory in the world.

How to go:

Subway line 5 to Yeouinaru Stn. Exit #4. 15 min walk. Free shuttle buses are also offered from nearby subway stations.

★ 63 Wax Museum

The 63 Wax Museum opened in 2008 and is a favorite amongst visitors to 63 City. Guests can tour the Museum and take photos with wax figures of historical personages including:

  • world-renowned musicians (Schubert, Bach, and Beethoven),
  • painters (Salvador Dali, Picasso, Van Gogh, etc.), as well as
  • a number of famous athletes
  • Hallyu Stars (Lee Byung-hun, Choi Ji-woo, Lee Young-ae and Bae Yong-joon) and
  • figures of people featured on a number of banknotes

As many as 70 wax figures made by a renowned Japanese artist are 1.5 times larger than actual size to provide greater detailed and appear life-like in photos. ‘The Last Supper’ which took 3 years to complete, is one of the most popular pieces in the museum. Visitors are provided with costumes to wear while taking photos of themselves as Jesus’ hypothetical 13th disciple.

Visitors can ride the glass elevator to 63 SkyArt on the 60th floor. The gallery opened in 2008 and was named the “highest art gallery in the world.” Aside from displaying a variety of masterpieces, visitors can also come here to enjoy the beautiful scenery as well. On the right side, there’s a wide-open view of Seoul and the gently flowing Hangang River; and on the left is a special art exhibition, which presents a variety of themes throughout the seasons.

★ 63 Sea World

Sea World, the nation’s first aquarium, opened in 1985 in tandem with the opening of 63 CITY. Sea World has over 400 species and 20,000 marine creatures and is famous for its exciting seal and sea lion shows. The little African Penguins are so adorable and loved by visitors of all ages. There is also an exciting show which has trainers feeding penguins as part of the program. Another popular attraction is the electronic eels spurting out electricity that powers lights. Moreover, visitors can participate in an underwater experience by walking on a glass-bottomed path where animals swim beneath their feet. Check the show schedule to make sure you have time for your favorite marine life shows!

★“Walking on the Cloud”

63 CITY has superb dining choices offering a wide range of food including Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Western. The highest restaurant in 63 CITY (and the entire nation as well) is “Walking on the Cloud” located on the 59th floor. Here, just as its name hints, visitors may enjoy top class cuisine that is so good visitors will feel as if they are “walking on the clouds.” The restaurant is reminiscent of a European garden restaurant and bar, and it has a mega-size wine cellar that contains as many as 300 varieties of wine. An available couple seat provides panoramic views of the Hangang River and downtown Seoul, and is famous for being the best spot to propose in Korea. Walking on the Cloud is another well-known filming spot of the Korean drama ‘Queen of Housewives.’ The restaurant is frequently pictured as a dating spot for the main characters in the drama and has become a popular tourist destination for many travelers from Japan, China and Thailand.

★Fanta-Stick

Fanta-Stick is a modern interpretation of Korean traditional performances combining percussion & string performances, break dancing, martial arts, dance and Samullori (traditional Korean Percussion Quartet). “Fanta” refers to the mysterious and fantasy-inspired atmosphere of the String family while “Stick” refers to the dynamic drumming of the Percussion family. Therefore, Fanta-Stick symbolizes both families and all the elements of the performance.
