Samcheong-dong is a quaint neighborhood full of traditional Korean buildings with a modern touch. The beautiful murals, artistic accessories, unique small coffee shops will make it hard for you to even put away your camera!

You might start feeling hungry after walking around Samcheong-dong, well, it’s time to head to Tongin market!

Tongin market is one of Korea’s traditional markets. It’s famous for gireum-tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes) and tteok-galbi (grilled short rib patties) menus, and especially the epic ‘Dosirak Café’ (‘dosirak’ for lunchbox ). You can experience trading in ancient way using Korean traditional brass coins called ‘yeopjeon’ worth 500 won each.

<Seochon Village>

Seochon village is another delightfully charming neighborhood close to Tongin market. Seochon is known for its artistic lineage as many artists have lived in this area from old times. And you may also find a modern-style orgel shop familiar, which was featured in the popular MBC drama “She was Pretty (2015)” and then became the newest hotspot of Seochon.

<Gyeongbokgung Palace>

It’s time to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty! Plan your time well and don’t miss the changing of the palace guards ceremony which takes place at 10:00, 13:00, and 15:00 everyday (expect for Tuesdays) for 15 mins each.

After the ceremony, you can take your time to explore inside of the palace, and maybe experience becoming one of the guards wearing the guard’s costume.

<Bukchon Hanok Village>

Bukchon Hanok Village is a major traditional Korean residential area in Seoul, as well as a beloved tourist spot that showcases traditional Korean style and living. This is the area where high-ranking government officials and nobility lived during the Joseon Dynasty.

Insa-dong is an area packed with traditional Korean tea houses, handcraft shops, and small galleries along every small alleys. There’s a unique designed building called Ssamziegil, which is the shopping complex of Insa-dong. 

It’s great to find a small tea house and try some traditional Korean tea and take a comfortable rest. Having some Korean street snacks is also a good choice!

You are ready to wrap up your first day in Seoul by enjoying the night and having a nice dinner at Jongno area. Despite the brilliant city lights and high-rise fancy buildings around, even better, is the food streets next to Jonggak Station (Seoul Subway Line 1) exit No.4. 

You can find all kinds of famous trendy Korean restaurants repeatedly recommended by both Korean bloggers and foreign travelers.

<Jeongdong Observatory>

Morning of our second day of tour of Seoul, what about a nice cup of coffee while enjoying the city view from up high? This Jeongdong Observatory is on the 13th floor of Seoul City Hall’s Seosomun building. It offers visitors warm cup of coffee or other beverages while gazing the view of Deoksugung Palace, Seoul City Hall, and the Jeongdong area.

Gwanghwamun Square lies in the heart of Seoul, representing and whispering the city’s history. Make sure you won’t miss the underground exhibition hall to learn more about King Sejong the Great and Admiral Yi after taking photos with their statues!

Cheonggyecheon Stream stretches over about 12 kilometers from the Jongno to Junggu area. You can leisurely stroll along the stream while enjoying the gentle flows of the water. 

When the night come, there’ll also be beautiful light on and street artists performing alongside the stream.

The well known heaven of shopping! Opens 365 days a year with most updated trendy fashion items. The whole block starts from Myeong-dong Subway Station (Seoul Subway Line 4) and leads up to the Lotte Department Store at Euljiro1-ga Station (Seoul Subway Line 2). You can find cheap fast fashion stuff, fancy designer brands, and duty free store, just try not get lost shopping to much!

Quite near to Myeong-dong, of course our final night leads to N Seoul Tower. Not only a landmark itself, the tower is also the beat spot to enjoy the night view of Seoul.

With the famous Teddy Bear Museum at the bottom floors, the ‘roof terrace’ where locks symbolizing love covering the fences, and the romantic observation deck where you can see the panoramic beauty of Seoul, N Seoul Tower is a must visit especially for couples and lovers.

    I would like to know if Teddy Bear Museum is still open? We’re planning to visit in April and I’ve read somewhere that Teddy Bear Museum had closed permanently? 😔
